About the Owyhee River

The Owyhee River begins in northern Nevada and flows through the high desert of eastern Oregon before joining the Snake River. It’s fed by the Owyhee Plateau and dammed near Lake Owyhee, creating a consistent tailwater below the dam — where we guide.

This stretch is ideal for brown trout and offers:

  • Consistent 45–55°F temps

  • Diverse aquatic insect life

  • Technical fishing and rewarding challenges

  • Wild landscapes with little to no cell signal (yes, that’s a plus)

  • All or part of this operation is conducted on public lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
